Ss Brewtech Unitank alternative
Ss Brewtech is closing. Here is what that means if you were shopping for a Unitank.
Ss Brewtech has announced a planned year-end closure. Its parent company, Middleby, said on September 9, 2026 that it is discontinuing its brewing equipment group, with the wind-down expected to be largely complete by the end of 2026.
Ss Brewtech built good fermenters, and a lot of brewers own one. If you were about to buy a Unitank, or you own one and are thinking about parts, this page sets out the closest tank we make and where it differs.
What a unitank does
A unitank is one stainless vessel that ferments, carbonates and conditions beer under pressure. The beer stays in the same tank from yeast pitch to keg, so it is never exposed to oxygen in a transfer.
The Bräu Supply Unitank
A jacketed stainless conical fermenter in four sizes: 8, 13 and 26 gallons, and 1 BBL.
Rated to 30 psi working pressure. Ships with a 15 psi relief valve.
Welded dimpled cooling jacket on every tank. Run it on tap water or glycol.
Standard tri-clamp fittings throughout. No proprietary parts.
Designed and assembled in Vancouver, BC. In stock, with free shipping to the lower 48.
2-year warranty and lifetime parts support.
Where the two tanks differ
Pressure rating
The Bräu Supply Unitank is rated to 30 psi working pressure. Ss Brewtech lists 15 psi operating pressure for the Unitank 2.0.
What comes with the tank
Ss Brewtech includes more in the box: a racking arm, carbonation stone, thermowell and neoprene jacket. On the 8, 13 and 26 gallon Bräu Supply Unitank the racking arm, carbonation stone and thermowell are add-ons, so you buy only what your process needs. The 1 BBL includes a 3 inch racking arm with sight glass.
Price
The Ss Brewtech Unitank 2.0 lists for less at every size. The table below shows both.
Availability and support
On October 5, 2026, the 7 gallon Unitank 2.0 was the only size available to order from Ss Brewtech. Ss Brewtech has not said how warranty claims or parts will be handled after it closes. The Bräu Supply Unitank is in production, and every part on it can be replaced.

FAQ
Is Ss Brewtech going out of business?
Yes. Ss Brewtech's website states a planned year-end closure. Its parent company, Middleby, announced on September 9, 2026 that it is discontinuing its brewing equipment group, including Ss Brewtech.
Can I still buy an Ss Brewtech Unitank?
Some sizes, while stock lasts. On October 5, 2026 the 7 gallon Unitank 2.0 was available to order from Ss Brewtech, and the 14 gallon, 17 gallon and 1 BBL were not.
Which Bräu Supply size replaces my Ss Brewtech size?
Match on batch size, not the name on the tank.
Ss Brewtech 7 gallon, for 5 to 6 gallon batches: the 8 gallon Unitank.
Ss Brewtech 14 gallon, for 10 to 11 gallon batches: the 13 gallon Unitank holds batches up to 10 gallons. For 11 gallons, choose the 26 gallon.
Ss Brewtech 17 gallon, for 15.5 to 16.5 gallon batches: the 26 gallon Unitank.
Ss Brewtech 1 BBL: the Unitank 1 BBL.
What does the 30 psi rating change?
It gives you more headroom for pressure fermentation, spunding and carbonating in the tank. The Unitank ships with a 15 psi relief valve. The valve is adjustable, and every setting must stay below the tank's 30 psi working pressure.
Do I need a glycol chiller?
Not always. The cooling jacket is on every Unitank. Tap water cooling works for ales when your tap water runs colder than your fermentation temperature. Glycol is required for lagers, cold crashing, or anything below room temperature. The 1 BBL needs a glycol chiller.
Do you ship to the United States?
Yes. Shipping is free to the lower 48, and the price you see is the delivered price with no customs charges. Tanks ship from Vancouver, BC in 5 to 10 days.
What is the warranty?
Two years on the vessel, every weld and every tri-clamp port, with lifetime parts support. Gaskets, clamps and O-rings are consumables, and replacements are kept in stock.

Parts for the long run.
